On the eve of the First World War, Germany stood at the center of a complex and many-sided drama: an industrial and military power that had risen with breath-taking speed, yet one hemmed in by acute geopolitical, economic and structural strains.
DID proudly presents the 1/6 WWI German MG08 Gunner – Arthur. He has a furrowed brow, a firm and focused gaze, a serious expression, and a steady gaze, further restoring the character’s calm and pragmatic historical image.
He wears the classic and weathered World War I German uniform and trousers. On his head sits a Stahlhelm with real-leather inner liner and a stamped-steel brow plate, while a sheet-metal World War I German trench armor over his torso for extra trench protection. A genuine leather belt girds the waist and black leather ankle boots complete the figure-sculpted, true-to-period cut.
In terms of weaponry, he comes with an easy-to-carry bayonet; an all-new metal-and-plastic MG08 machine gun complete with a 21-bullet ammunition belt, able to sustain long bursts and keep an entire sector suppressed in trench warfare; a Mauser C96 pistol—high cyclic rate, large magazine, deadly in close-quarters; a general-issue multi-bit screwdriver for on-the-spot weapon and equipment repairs; two stick grenades; and one high-explosive ball grenade for maximum destructive effect.
For accessories, he carries a bread-bag for rations, a newly-manufactured metal gas mask canister and a gas mask, a Zeltbahn that doubles as rain-cape or multi-purpose field gear, plus a mess tin, German canteen, drum magazine and a plastic water cooling can that keeps the MG08 topped up with cold water for sustained fire.
